Sacro Capital Group, LLC is a privately owned hedge fund designed for investors of all size. In fact, you could think of Sacro Capital as a “hedge fund for the common man.” When people hear the term “hedge fund,” most people think of a complex and risky type of investment that requires a large financial commitment. But this isn’t necessarily true. The SCG Growth Fund is a multi-strategy based hedge fund with a low minimum investment of just $25,000. In contrast, most other hedge funds have minimum investments of $100,000 or more.
Another big difference between Sacro Capital and most other hedge funds is the level of volatility in the fund. Management of the SCG Growth Fund follows a unique investment approach in which investors’ money is “in the market” for just a few hours each month. The rest of the time money is sitting on the sidelines while management looks for the right investment opportunities that are in line with the Fund’s return objectives and level of risk tolerance.
Such a unique approach to hedge fund investing tends to limit volatility and lessen investor risk. This is especially important to investors who are nearing retirement and need to shift their primary focus from asset accumulation to capital preservation.
Sacro Capital Group pursues attractive and sustainable risk-adjusted returns on the capital we invest for our clients. The firm invests using a broad array of strategies in both public and private markets. We deal in quantitative investing, particularly in equities, and options, the firm also has formidable expertise in areas that involve fundamental analysis or portfolio manager discretion, such as credit and macro investing. Regardless of the particular strategy, each investment decision is made in the context of a rigorous analytical approach that seeks to carefully identify and weigh potential risks and rewards.
The firm’s investment activities fall into two broad areas:
Strategies focused on the delivery of absolute returns, with low targeted correlation to traditional assets like equities, account for more than 75 percent of the firm’s investment capital. Our alternative investments consists of both larger, core multi-strategy investment vehicles and more focused, strategy-specific investments.
Benchmark-Relative and Asset Class Investments
Long-biased strategies focusing on major, liquid asset classes represent more than 20 percent of the firm’s investment capital. A suite of long-only benchmark-relative equity investment strategies allows us to deploy a systematic investment process that enables institutional investors to customize their exposure to particular indices. This discretionary strategy seeks dynamic exposures to multiple asset classes, enhanced by select alpha opportunities.
Sacro Capital Group focuses on the pursuit of attractive risk-adjusted returns for our investors. In our alternative investment strategies, this means an emphasis on uncovering hard-to-find sources of return with modest long-term correlation to traditional asset classes; we look for unique opportunities that are less exposed to competitive pressures and market crises. In our benchmark-relative strategies, we seek to use quantitative techniques to generate returns that exceed standard benchmarks and that offer diversification from conventional style factors like value, growth, size, or momentum.
Risk management is an integral part of all our activities—both investment and non-investment. While we have a dedicated risk team, we consider risk management to be everyone’s job. It’s our belief that long-term investment success requires not only mitigation of day-to-day investment risk, but also careful preparation for extraordinary events and an unusual attention to detail in the areas of operations, compliance, and other key business functions. Having navigated a number of challenging market environments over the course of each of our careers, we believe we’ve gained valuable insight into practices for attenuating risk.
Our investment paradigm favors teamwork among business units focused on investment approaches. Our teams work in close collaboration—not in competitive silos—to share trade ideas, manage risks, streamline processes, and explore new opportunities. We think this creates a number of research and portfolio management advantages and fosters a stimulating and rewarding work environment.
The firm is active in both public and private markets, including the following:
Asset-Backed Securities, Benchmark-Related Equities, Convertible Securities, Equity Arbitrage, Equity Options, Fixed Income, Long/Short Equities, Macro Investing, Private Equity, Venture Capital
We have expended considerable resources over the past few years and will continue to develop our powerful and sophisticated infrastructure. To build this platform, we’ve invested heavily in our technology, processes, and people. We use advanced computer hardware and continue to create proprietary software to conduct our investment activities and back-office operations, implement strong controls, and share knowledge across the firm.
Our infrastructure also helps us provide what we believe is best-in-class investor support and transparency by delivering extensive reporting and risk analytics with an emphasis on accessibility, clarity, and usefulness.

Did you know that 76 percent of all Americans are living paycheck to paycheck as of 2015? Think about that for a minute, because it s truly astounding. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. population included 240,745,082 adults as of June 2015. That means that 182,456,443 Americans more than three of every four…
I’m losing patience with financial rules of thumb, especially the tried and true concepts of “Buy & Hold” and infamous “Buy Low & Sell High.” Not only does the “Buy & Hold” concept lack relevance in today’s markets, but technically you can’t apply both a “Buy & Hold” strategy with a “Buy Low & Sell High” approach. Let…
Why follow the investment herd when the sharpest minds in finance can make money for you whether markets go up or down? But all, of course, for a price. This idea, give or take a few tweaks over the years, has been the consistent pitch by hedge fund managers to potential clients. The term “hedge…
